(This is a computer translation of the original article in Spanish. It should not be regarded as complete or accurate.)
Honora Sneyd was born in Bath (Summerset, England) in 1752. She is known by her romantic friendship with writer Anna Seward. Honora was living with the family Seward when she was still a girl and, although she was nine younger than Anna Seward a deep friendship arose between them while they were sharing house for thirteen years. At the age of nineteen Honora's father did that she was returning to his house and her friend turned out to be impacted for such a fact although relieved because Honora would not go away too much far and they might continue with the relation. Nevertheless, in 1773 Honora Sneyd married a rich Irish so-called Richard Lovell Edgeworth, who previously had flirted also with her friend Anna, who felt betrayed and embittered. Honora died on April 30, 1780, and Anna Seward would dedicate her poems of grief and love for many years, like for example:
Elegy
Writing in the beach, and directed to miss Honora Sneyd
I write, Honora, on the brilliant sand!
The envious waves prohibit that the trace remains:
Honora's name again embellishes the shore!
Again the waters take his award far!
Then the Nature wrote his delight on your face,
The light flower of the cheek, the carmine of the lips,
And everything is a happiness, and everything is a charming grace,
The warm hours of that youth, and the shops of beauty.
But the severe tide of the time, with the wave
of the cold negligence,
Will dissolve soon every feature, every discolored delight;
The Nature, so powerful, cannot save
its own rich gifts of this damage that overcomes me.
The love and the muse can brag about a top
power,
Indelible the letters they will frame;
they do not yield at any inevitable hour,
But your name will last in the stones written.
